Hot work ("varme arbeider" in Norwegian, "heta arbeten" in Swedish) is any fire hazardous work, performed using machinery and equipment that is a source of open flame, sparks or hot air and can cause a fire. 

Hot work includes activities such as:

• gas and electrical welding,
• working with gas burners,
• thermal cutting,
• grinding,
• working with heat guns

A special safety regulation was introduced in the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland) to regulate the performance of hot work. This regulation states that hot work in increased fire risk areas can only be performed and supervised by workers who participated in hot work training and hold a valid hot work certificate.

The aim of the hot work training is to familiarize workers with the safety regulation which covers the performance of hot work in Scandinavian countries and to make them aware of an increased fire risk during the performance of such work.

Hot work training is dedicated not only to those who perform hot work but also to workers who supervise the safe performance of such work and act as fire guards ("brannvakt" in Norwegian). 

Hot work training takes a few hours and is conducted in Polish. It can be conducted in English or in Norwegian.

Every worker who wishes to obtain a hot work certificate has to complete a certification course and pass a written test.

• welders,
• steel erectors,
• grinders,
• pipe fitters,
• mechanics,
• sheet metal workers,
• electricians,
• plumbers,
• painters,
• roofers,
• construction workers

Hot work training is organized in many locations in Poland and in Scandinavia. It can also be conducted at a place and time specified by the client. We can schedule an individual training date for organized groups. Organized groups can also get a discount. Hot work training can be conducted remotely (online).  

The price of hot work training is PLN 890 net / person (PLN 1095 gross / person). 

As of 1 January 2020, hot work certificate is available for training participants in a digital form via BVIS application. Every training participant can download this application from Google Play or Apple Store and install it on their smartphone. 

Participants can also get their certificates in the form of a plastic card for an additional fee of PLN 180 net / person (PLN 221,40 gross / person). 

The Norwegian hot work certificate (varme arbeider sertifikat) is valid for 5 years in the Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

• when you pass the exam, you will be given a certificate issued by the Norwegian Fire Protection Association (BVIS application or a plastic card)
• as soon as the exam is passed, the training participant will be given a temporary certificate which authorizes them to perform hot work while waiting for the certificate to be issued by the Norwegian Fire Protection Association (Norsk brannvernforening)
